Republicans including Adam Kinzinger and Ana Navarro will be appearing at the Democratic National Convention (DNC) this week in Chicago, as Kamala Harris received yet another GOP endorsement, from former Republican Virginia Representative Barbara Comstock.
Kinzinger, who served Illinois’s 16th congressional district from 2010 to January 2023, is scheduled to speak at the event on Thursday, the same night Harris will give her keynote speech, CNN revealed on Sunday.
Also a long-standing critic of Trump, Kinzinger voted to impeach Trump for “incitement of an insurrection” after the January 6 attacks. Last month, Kinzinger wrote that the former president had turned the GOP into a “cult of personality.”
Ana Navarro, a Republican strategist and co-host of ABC’s The View, will host Tuesday night. Navarro, a frequent critic of former president Donald Trump in recent years, explained on her Instagram why she is supporting Harris.
“I’m a little refugee girl who fled communism, who fled Nicaragua at the age of eight, found freedom, found opportunity, found a home in America, and for me to have the chance to stand on that stage and help my girl, Kamala, make history and become the Democratic nominee, it’s just such a mind-blowing moment,” Navarro said.
The appearances of Kinzinger and Navarro at the DNC this week come following several other Republican colleagues throwing their support behind Harris for similar reasons, including former Republican congresswoman Barbara Comstock.
In an interview with CNN on Sunday, Comstock spoke about Kinzinger, saying she agreed with what he has said about Trump.
She said: “[Kinzinger] has been very clear and I support him in saying that Donald Trump could never be near the Oval Office again.”
Comstock went on to cite Trump’s alleged involvement on January 6, mentioned the felonies he was convicted of in May and said he proves his “misogyny” daily.
“[Kinzinger] is the perfect person to make the case that, while he might disagree with the Vice President on some of her policy issues, he agrees on democracy, he agrees on things like supporting our allies in NATO, he supports—obviously—the war in Ukraine and supporting President Zelensky and he supports those fundamental principles that I think they share in the importance of keeping Donald Trump out of the Oval Office.”
Newsweek has contacted Trump’s team via email for comment.
Earlier this month, the Harris for President campaign announced the “Republicans for Harris” program, to further outreach efforts to the millions of Republican voters who continued to reject the chaos, division, and violence of Donald Trump and his Project 2025 agenda.”
Kinzinger is one of the dozens of names on the list, which also includes Former U.S. Secretary of Defense Chuck Hagel and Former GOP state chair and state Senator Chris Vance of Washington.
